It took me a while to recognise all my fears. I could see how it was holding me back from being the best, boldest and truest version of myself. I knew I could overcome them if I started to develop grit.
Grit gives me the strength and courage I need to do the thing I fear even while I am still fearing it. It’s feeling the fear and doing it anyways.
Opening up to strangers was a great fear. I wanted to be seen as an independent, strong, intelligent and capable woman. Sharing my thoughts and feelings may show vulnerability and that made me very uncomfortable.
This is how the idea for “Fear and Fortitude” came about. Fortitude means; “finding the mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously”. It was time to face my fear and share my life’s journey and experiences. Hopefully, I could create a sense of solidarity, along with some motivation and courage for others along the way.
My wish is that every person will have the courage to push past their fears, be the best individual they can be, using fortitude to follow all of their heart’s dreams and wants.
I have found this saying to be true;
“everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear” – George Addair
I wish you well on this crazy path of adventure which we call life. Make it your best.
