Whilst we all have our own story and experiences, our own set of morals and beliefs, even our own way of thinking, we must realise that these aspects have contributed to where we are in life right now.
My name is Barb Gadke and I am setting out to lead by example for all the women of the world. Here’s the scoop……
I had a crazy idea to be more open and to start sharing my stories, experiences and thoughts with others to bring us closer together. I’m not meaning closer by proximity but closer by our similarities to create a feeling of normality between us. During the tougher times, I have felt as if no-one could ever understand me. That is how this blog came about.
The truth is, there are only seven primary emotions. Do you know what they are?
Anger, fear, guilt, happiness (joy), sadness (grief), shame and surprise
Considering this, we can’t be all that different from one other. Right?
My blog is all about dealing with one of these emotions. Yep, you guessed it! Fear.
Each of us struggles with fear. Fear of failing, fear of not being accepted, fear of being left behind, fear of heights, fear of spiders; the list can go on and on. Fear holds us back in life and as the saying goes,
“everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear”
My hope is that every woman out there will push past her fear, be the best individual she can be, using fortitude to follow all of her heart’s dreams and wants.

The blog comprises of a few different concepts. I felt it was best to separate out the old from the new and the travel from every day life. Whilst I would love to live a life of continual travel and work remotely from every corner of the world, I haven’t figured out a way to make that stick, just yet. I’ll keep you posted.
Fear and Fortitude
Thoughts and ideas from everyday life, from an everyday kind of person. Honest and down to earth articles with a sprinkling of quirky humour.
Stories from places I’ve been and things I’ve seen. I’m eager to keep on travelling the world. Every inch of my heart and soul has a want to visit other countries, meet face to face with new cultures, see all the amazing animals that walk the earth and tour across the forever changing landscapes.
From my teenage years, even a little earlier, the only way I could express myself clearly was in the writing of poems. These poems have mostly remained unread and unheard – until now.
Thank you for visiting and I wholeheartedly hope you find some motivation, courage and inspiration throughout my pages. I would love to hear your feedback, so please, leave me a comment or two.
Oh, and before I forget, a good mantra to remember and live by is,
“Dream high because nobody owns the sky”
