In life, I have continuously struggled with elements of fear. I have a fear of failing, the unknown, being alone, not being accepted, being left behind, heights, loss, spiders as well many other irrational thoughts that I hang onto to keep me in that position of feeling safe and comfortable.
It took me a while to recognise my fears independently and realise that these were the components holding me back from being the best, boldest and truest version of myself. I knew I could never overcome my fears unless I started to develop grit. Grit is the element that gives me strength and courage to do the thing I fear even while I am still fearing it. Bascially, it’s feeling the fear and doing it anyways. Which is exactly what fortitude means. Finding the mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously.
I have found this saying to be true;
“everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear” – George Addair
My hope is that every person out there will push past their fear, be the best individual they can be, using fortitude to follow all of their heart’s dreams and wants.
